In addition to the up to date “Urgent Needs” list (on the home page of this website) and the “Everyday Needs” list (on the right-hand column of this page) which serve the day to day needs of our guests, the following accepted items also help meet the emergency and more specialized needs of guests — especially as they stabilize and seek permanent housing. You can always call us directly in the Day Shelter at (812) 426-9960 and ask us what else we might need to serve others.
[COVID-19 UPDATE: We are ONLY accepting essential items donations. Please, check our needs lists and/or call ahead. (812) 426-9960.
Food Donations
We accept small canned/packaged food donations anytime — some specifics are listed on the needs list. We accept left-overs from catered meals daily until 6 pm (if later, please call ahead to arrange). We accept and will pick up large food donations directly from local businesses (based on needs & storage capacity) preferably with an inventory list, expiration dates, and estimated values (for a gift receipt and tax purposes). We accept or pick up large food donations M-F, 8 am – 2:30 pm. Other days/or later times need to be arranged.
Accepted Donations
We appreciate the generosity of our donors who provide many of the necessities we use each day. Please note that we ask that all items be clean, safe, and in working condition. New and used items are accepted in most instances; however, if the item is something you would never use, wear or desire then the same goes for the people we serve.
