United Caring Services offers the only Day Shelter (drop-in center) services in Evansville for men, women, and children offering 3 meals day for 7 days a week. We serve over 350 hot meals a day [9 am, 12 pm, and 5 pm], all prepared by our volunteers. We provide services for children, families, elderly, disabled, near homeless and homeless individuals.
United Caring Services offers a place for people to get out of the elements and provides shower and laundry facilities (for which UCS supplies toiletries and laundry detergent), an address for receiving mail, hygiene items, clothing, and opportunities to give back and help the shelter through details assigned to night shelter guests.
The Day Shelter is open from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm, seven days a week.
Our Day Shelter works in conjunction with agencies such as ECHO Community Health Center, the Veterans Administration, Matthew 25, Peace Zone, Southwestern Indiana Behavioral Services, and Aurora Inc, which provide outreach, case management, physical health, and behavioral health support.
Over 16,000 hours of volunteerism, by 500+ volunteers, each year, occurs as part of the Day Shelter.
An Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) provided by the City of Evansville, Indiana helps to partially fund some Day Shelter operations. #EisforEveryone
