United Caring Services Expands Day Shelter Hours
EVANSVILLE – United Caring Services (UCS), in cooperation and partnership with the Evansville Police Department and the Evansville Downtown Economic Improvement District, is expanding its daily Day Shelter hours to ensure our communities’ safety, security, and access to important supportive services.
United Caring Services offers the only public Day Shelter (drop in center) services in Evansville for men, women, and children every day of the week. UCS provides three meals a day [9am, 12pm, and 5pm] along with clothing, hygiene items, public restrooms, showers, and many other services to approximately 150 homeless and near-homeless people every day. Volunteers are essential to United Caring Services’ vision to create a Community of Caring that will break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. Over 15,000 hours of volunteerism are donated every year through the Day Shelter benefitting the people of our community.
Starting on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, the Day Shelter at United Caring Services will open an hour earlier providing an easier transition for its night shelter guests – a welcome change especially during inclement weather. The Day Shelter will operate seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For more information, visit https://www.unitedcaringservices.org/day-shelter/. To schedule a tour, donate needed items, or volunteer to serve call (812) 422-0297.
An Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) provided by the City of Evansville, Indiana helps to partially fund Day Shelter operations. #EisforEveryone
